Shapes Now Added to Every Friendly Banjo
At Friendly Banjo, everything we do comes down to two questions:
Does this make it easier to play?
Does this make it more inclusive?
Adding four shapes to our color-coded frets was a resounding yes to both.
Not everyone sees color the same way as most people, and we want the Friendly Banjo to live up to its name — friendly for everyone. These new fret shapes make it easier for players who experience color differently to learn and play without needing to rely solely on our color-coded frets.
The shapes also help all kinds of learners — visual thinkers, pattern seekers, and beginners who just benefit from an extra cue. Our Play by Color tablatures have been updated too, now showing both color and shape for each note. That means every player can follow along in the way that works best for them — by color, by shape, or both.
The Friendly Banjo continues to grow as an inclusive musical instrument designed for beginners, kids, and classrooms. With color-coded frets, an ambidextrous design, and our ‘Play-by-Color’ (and shape!) tablatures, learning to play becomes easier, and more accessible for everyone. Whether you’re introducing music to a child for the first time or adding a fun new tool to your classroom, the Friendly Banjo is here to make learning simple, inclusive, and joyful.
