How to Read Play-By-Color Tablatures
The three horizontal lines beneath the lyrics represent your banjo's strings. The top line is your top string, the middle line is your middle string, and the bottom line is your bottom string. Your banjo's open tuning gives you the flexibility to either pluck a single string or strum all three when reading Play-By-Color tablatures.
A white circle on a string means to strum all three banjo strings open (without pressing down on a fret).
A solid colored dot on a line means to press down on the matching colored fret on that string and strum.
If you see a symbol with a two-colored ring, this means to play the unpainted fret located between those two colors. For example, a dot with a blue and yellow ring means to play the fret located between the blue and yellow frets.
A number on any dot indicates how many times to strum that note. If there's no number, just strum (or pluck the string) once.
